Get your student visa easily, and make your study abroad dream come true.

June 27, 2023

These days you see a vast number of people going abroad for studies. It was not a surprise that the number of students going abroad for studies in recent years tripled, if not quadrupled, given the country’s economic crisis, political instability, and high unemployment rates recently.

Pursuing higher studies in a foreign country is about more than just the quality of education. That opens up a world of opportunities and enriching experiences too. For example, the majority of the students who go to a foreign country want to get settled in that country or migrate to another from that country. Especially given the international status of Sri Lanka right now, migrating directly can be impossible. But you might have a better chance if you try that from a different country. That’s the general thinking.

So we can agree that obtaining a student visa is like the doorway to one’s migration or study abroad dreams coming true. All you need now is to know the set of secret keys to unlock that doorway.

So, we will explore the process of acquiring a student visa easily for any country. Additionally, we will delve into specific examples such as the student visa requirements in Sri Lanka, the Australian student visa subclass 500, the F1 student visa for the United States, as well as general tips for preparing a student visa checklist.

Understanding Student Visa Requirements

Before applying for a student visa, it’s essential to understand the specific requirements set by the country you wish to study in. Generally, these requirements include:

Letter of acceptance:

A letter of acceptance is also known as the offer letter or acceptance letter, and it is mostly a binding document students need to procure study permits in most countries. This is to confirm the offer of enrollment from a recognized educational institution.

Financial proof:

If a country accepts a student who cannot cover his or her needs during the study period, that will burden that country’s system. In that case, students who wish to enrol on a foreign study program must show that they can cover tuition fees, living expenses, and return transportation costs before they are accepted. So a student has to show valid financial proof confirming the student’s ability to support himself/herself during the study period.

Language proficiency certificate:

This is required by certain countries and certain study programmes. This document proves that the student is proficient in the language used in the country. This can be demonstrated through standardized tests such as the IELTS or TOEFL, based on the country’s/study programme’s requirements.

Health insurance:

Many countries mandate health insurance coverage during the student’s stay, so the student has to prepare and provide proof of appropriate health insurance coverage based on the requirement.

Passport:

A valid passport for at least six months beyond the student’s intended stay in the country chosen for the student is required.

Medical examinations:

Some countries and study programs may require the students to undergo a medical examination prior to ensuring that they meet their health standards.

Statement of purpose:

This is your statement as a student, explaining the academic and career goals, reasons for choosing the specific course and institution and even the country, and your intention to return to your home country after completing your studies. This statement is so important for the authorities to gauge your motivations and assess your eligibility.

Subclass 500 Student visa

The Student Visa Subclass 500 is an Australian visa specifically designed for international students who wish to pursue their education in Australia. Subclass 500 Student visa allows students to undertake academic and professional courses in a wide spectrum. Also, under this visa category, students can work part-time up to 40 hours a week and full-0time during vacation. Also, students can include dependents as well.

F1 Student visa:

The F1 student visa falls into the non-immigrant visa category, allowing international students to pursue their studies in the United States of America. It can be said the most common visa category for students who want to enrol on academic or professional study programmes. The F1 visa is issued to students accepted into a Student and Exchange Visitor Program-approved educational institution, such as universities, colleges, high schools, language schools, and vocational institutions in the US. To maintain this visa status, students are expected to demonstrate sufficient progress with their studies. This visa is not lenient on work permits, and most of the time, students get 20 hours a week of on-campus part-time work and full-time work during three breaks.

Tips to Get Your Student Visa

If you know the ins and outs of the student visa process, it won’t look as complicated as it feels in front of a fresh pair of eyes. That said, there are always ways to make the student visa process hassle-free. Here are a few tips:

Expert help:

You may feel that you know the process to the smallest detail with your extensive research on that. BUT take expert help no matter what. This help can mean consulting an agent, a study abroad consultancy, an immigration lawyer, or someone who went through the process for the country you want to try. This will help you to avoid pitfalls and snares and to get the insider’s insight about the process.

Make a checklist:

After getting your consultation, making a checklist of everything needed to be done and every document needed to procure will help to avoid leaving out anything last minute. Make everything into a file folder along with the checklist. This will relieve tremendous tension from the whole process.

Talk with your bankers:

In the past year or so, with the financial roadblocks implemented in Sri Lanka, paying fees to another country was a headache. But, beforehand, talking with your banker and discussing the possible limits, prohibitions, and solutions will help you and probably save some money.

Proof of funding:

The cardinal rule when it comes to showing proof of funding is not letting anything go to fate. For example, if you are short some amount for the required amount, don’t assume that authorities will overlook it. Overlooking that small problem can happen if the other aspects about you are parred excellent, but you shouldn’t take a chance.

One thing to remember: Obtaining a student visa for studying abroad is important in fulfilling one’s academic dreams. So, we should not use a student visa to do any illegal or against- the the-regulations acts, such as entering another country illegally using a student visa or working full time without fulfilling the academic purpose the visa was issued for. That will trigger restrictions against future students going to that particular country from Sri Lanka, making things harder for future students who want to migrate for their studies.
